What is the habitat of modern humans? The only obvious answer to this question is our homes. Nowhere else do we spend more time than in our own four walls. But what factors actually determine our housing situation? And: Do our homes also have a formative effect on us? What impact do living conditions have, for instance, on subjective well-being and political worldviews, but also on urban and thus socio-spatial developments? From a sociological perspective on inequality, my research addresses a wide range of housing-related issues, particulary the relationship between tenants, owners, and landlords.
