Research focus

  • Social inequality
  • Housing research
  • Political sociology
  • Quantitative and qualitative methods

What is actually the habitat of modern humans? Our homes are the only obvious answer to this question. Nowhere else do we spend more time than in our own four walls. But what societal factors determine our housing situation? And: Do our homes also have a formative effect on us? What impact do housing conditions have, for instance, on subjective well-being and political worldviews, but also on urban and thus socio-spatial developments? From a sociological perspective on inequality, my research addresses a wide range of housing-related issues, particularly the relationship between tenants, owners, and landlords.
