Content: The home is the place where we spend the longest time of our lives. Depending on the housing conditions, the home provides specific spaces for experiences, formation and opportunities. From a sociological perspective of inequality, the book sensitizes readers to home ownership status - whether people rent or own - as a forgotten determinant of inequality. With a focus on attitudes (mentalities) and actions (political participation) associated with housing status, it is argued theoretically and shown empirically: Home ownership status is an explanatory factor of social inequality with more than economic inequality dynamics inherent.
