On the interplay between space and conflict

Miriam Schad and Bernd Sommer already addressed the new challenges arising from conflicts in the context of socio-ecological transformation in an article published in 2022. The anthology contribution, recently published in English, takes up these considerations and expands the perspective, particularly with regard to spatial aspects. The anthology Spatial Conflicts and Conflictual Spaces by Hubert Knoblauch, Vivien Sommer, and Barbara Pfetsch addresses the fundamental issue of the reconfiguration of space in very different regions and at different levels. The contribution published in it addresses, among other things, conflicts in connection with issues of material distribution, cultural lifestyles, and externalization effects. This paper presents an initial systematization of transformation conflicts and can serve as a starting point for further research. The contribution is available here.
