Research article released

In previous research, Philipp Kadelke has already shown that, contradicting popular belief, small private landlords in Germany and Europe occupy privileged social positions. His newly published article (in Housing, Theory and Society) now focuses on a direct comparison with tenants. On the one hand, it shows that, even without rental income, small landlords across countries have substantially more economic resources at their disposal than their tenants, which leads to unequal bargaining positions. On the other hand, there are indications that these inequalities interact with specific characteristics of housing systems in ways that were not expected.
