How unequal is the wealth distribution in Germany? “Four out of five Germans believe that wealth in the country is distributed unfairly,” according to a recent survey commissioned by the WDR.
On April 27, 2026, Nicole Burzan discussed this topic with Robert Meyer on the Morgenecho programme on WDR 5. “The top ten percent own 60 percent of the wealth – this cannot be attributed to merit,” Burzan explains in the interview. The full conversation can be downloaded as an MP3 via the WDR website or listened to directly via the embedded player.
Philipp Kadelke also addressed the role of housing in wealth distribution in broadcast on Tagesschau24 and the Aktuelle Stunde on WDR. The video from April 27, 2026, is available here.
